Winter - Is It Over?

Last night I was on a social media site and saw a funny shirt that read, "I Survived The Two Days of Winter in Tampa".  Believe it or not, we're just recovering from two consecutive days in the low 30's and believe me when I say, we are ready to get back to our "normal" low to mid 70's and high 50's overnight.  It's truly the reason we all migrate here.  Here's hoping that the cold snap is over!

Back in the Saddle Again

Today is the start of the first full week of work after the long holiday season.  I don't know about you, but there's something oddly reassuring to getting back to your "normal" schedule.  Most importantly I will be able to tell what day it is....that makes me feel better.

Happy New Year?

Sometimes the beginning of a year doesn't look as much of a blank slate to start over as it should.  Bright and happy people usually have mixed feelings of hope and fear, which can make people do strange things.  I truly believe that even people who seem to be very confident are mired in distrust of their happiness.  As Jim Morrison sang,

People Are Strange:

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
When you're strange

New Year's Resolution

Another year and another attempt to make myself a better human being.  I identify with many of the ideas of a "fresh start", but wouldn't it be lovely if we actually DID take our resolutions to heart and follow through with them?  If this were so, I would be much thinner, much healthier, much more tolerant and much more adventuresome!  Maybe this is the year to make it so!  Whatever happens, there's always that glimmer of hope, right?!?  Determined to eat better, exercise more, purge the mountains of paperwork that seem to grow daily, downsize the "stuff" that surrounds, I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
